Loss

I went kind of apeshit and constructed a seven issue mini-series.

It was the summer after I had been booted from secondary school. Issue #1 had sold briskly at punk shows. I was staying with my uncle for two weeks; acting apprentice in his handy-man business. My mother was vacationing in Hawaii. My father and sister were vacationing all over the American West. I didn't have any money, and and I sure as shit didn't have anything to do with my time besides re-reading my collection of Cerebus comics and listening to tapes on my walkman.

It kept on going after I returned home. I remember that I had stopped watching television that entire summer, but the night I stayed up until 4am completing #4 I watched some really lame late night talk show. A photograph of my (headless) mother made its way onto the cover of issue #5. She was not impressed. The last one has some contributions from an even younger me.

Issues #8 and #9 are removed from the rest of the series. They don't count towards the original story, but fit enough that I kept with the title.
