cool. i like power laws a lot and have no idea why.

bsdm copyrights and actually all of copyright law and the attempt to change it so that it begins to make sense reminds me of when i worked in a porn store. again i have no idea why.

that said, i'd like to do something with these. i'd like to add on my own copyright though that claims the source files can be used in their entirety if there are cute, performing animals and/or alan alda involved in some way.

the legalese would make a great album cover.

You ever tried to read the GPL? It's encyclopedic in volume. If you tried printed it out, the resulting loss of trees would turn the entire continent of North America into a giant mudslide the first time someone spit on the ground.

yeah, and you wouldn't think that it would have to. wasn't it created partially as a statement against copyright law? how about, 'use this shit for whatever you want, don't sell it, and tell people where you got it from. god bless.'

I think in both cases here (the GPL and the BSD license), the attempt was to make something that could actually stand up in court. Since both licenses have to function in a real environment and aren't just theoretical.

The BSD license is about as close to public domain as you can get. All it requires is attribution (and actually, modern versions of the license have even removed that requirement from binary redistribution).

doesn't adding 'god bless' to the end of a sentence automatically make it stand up legally? i believe i learned that in law school.

Stem cells.

Just kidding!

These four pieces are mostly combinations of old 4-track recordings I made years ago and field recordings made this year, edited in Audacity and Adobe Audition using this process.

I've read much more about him than I've read by him as well. I really don't have enough information to form an educated opinion. I don't think I am opposed to any of his ideas in a serious way (that I know of). He seems to have been very good at getting institutions to acknowledge his experiments as having artistic validity. On that level alone he's worth investigating -- I need more time for research!

The second one reminds me of the Hafler Trio.

I love ambient noise. Sometimes walking around the city I imagine it's a symphony just for me.

:)

I need a new computer, dammit! I can't record right now.

Somehow I didn't answer this comment before -- I'm sorry, I meant to!

What's wrong with your computer that you can't record?

The desktop computer I was using for recording belongs to my room mate.

:(

I set things up again, but once he moves out, I'll be stuck with my clunky 433MHz laptop. Plus I'm getting rid of a lot of stuff for my move.

Actually, I'm quite happy about it because I was sick of my setup-- I want a standalone recording unit and lots of knobs on my next synth.

Looking forward to the CD!!
